Jim Jenkins

Jim Jenkins

Jim Jenkins is Vice President, Regulatory and Public Policy for American Water, the largest investor-owned U.S. water and wastewater utility company. Mr. Jenkins is responsible for the coordination of rates and regulatory strategy across the company. He also currently serves as the Chair of the NAWC Regulatory Law and Rates Committee. Jim has over 30 years of experience in the utility sector.

Mr. Jenkins has held various leadership positions within the organization, including rates and regulatory, financial planning and analysis, and accounting. Jim started at American Water with a predecessor company in corporate accounting in 1993.

Mr. Jenkins previously was the Director of Accounting at the Illinois Commerce Commission (ICC) and worked on a wide range of regulatory issues in the electric, gas, telephone, and water industries. Prior to joining the ICC, Jim spent two years working in public accounting for McGladrey.

Mr. Jenkins earned a bachelor’s degree in accounting from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and a MBA from the University of Illinois at Springfield. Jim is a Certified Public Accountant.
