Jeffrey Stein

Policy Advisor, Market Development
American Petroleum Institue

Jeff Stein is a Policy Advisor in the American Petroleum Institute’s Market Development Group. In this role, he covers natural gas in the power sector— focusing on policy, regulatory and legislative matters related to gas utilization in electricity markets.

Prior to joining API, Jeff worked in various policy and consulting roles covering energy, economics and foreign affairs. He holds a Master of Arts in International Relations and Economics from The Johns Hopkins University School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS) and while in graduate school worked with IHS-Markit on macroeconomic research and forecasting for clients in the refining sector. He also worked with a global automaker’s Washington, DC office on a yearlong commissioned report about the Highway Trust Fund.

Jeff previously served as an Associate Area Director for the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC) in their Southeast office where he worked to grow AIPAC’s membership and political footprint in the Southeast. He also previously worked as an associate at David Gardiner & Associates, an energy and environment policy and consulting firm in Washington, DC.

Jeff holds an MA from the Johns Hopkins University School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS) and a BA in Political Science from the University of Wisconsin.
