Advisory Board Member
Kevin Gunn is the Executive Director, Regulatory and Political Affairs, Central Region for NextEra Energy Resources. Previously, he was the Principal of Paladin Energy Strategies. He also previously served on the Missouri Public Service Commission (PSC). He has unique insight into all aspects of regulatory and governmental affairs: including state and federal regulations, State Public Service Commissions, strategic planning and public policy issues.
Gunn was appointed to the Missouri PSC on March 13, 2008. He was confirmed by the Missouri State Senate on April 10, 2008 and sworn in on April 21, 2008. He was appointed as chairman on February 10, 2011. Gunn stepped down from the Commission on March 1, 2013. Prior to his appointment to the commission, Gunn was an attorney in private law practice in St. Louis with the law firm of Sonnenschein, Nath and Rosenthal. He also has extensive experience in the political realm, including serving as chief of staff to a former U.S. Representative.
While a commissioner, Gunn served on the National Association of Regulatory Utility Commissioners (NARUC) Board of Directors, the Committee on International Relations, Co-Chair of the NARUC Washington Action Program and the NARUC Committee on Electricity. He was also a member of the Executive Committee of the Eastern Interconnection States’ Planning Council (EISPC), the Eastern Interconnection Planning Collaborative (EIPC), and the EIPC Stakeholder Steering Committee (SSC).
Gunn has served on the Board of Directors of Missouri-American Water. In addition, he is on several charitable boards. Gunn currently is the Chair of the SSM Foundation Board. He also formally served as the Vice-President of the Rainbow Village Board of Directors. Rainbow Village provides accessible homes to developmentally disabled. Gunn formerly served as the Chairman of the St. Clare Hospital Foundation Board, the St. Louis County Fire Standards Commission and the St. Louis Regional Chamber and Growth Association Public Policy Council. He is currently the President-elect of the Bar Association of Metropolitan St. Louis.
Gunn received his Bachelor of Arts in political science from American University in 1992 and earned his Juris Doctor from St. Louis University School of Law in 1996. He is married to Amy Collignon Gunn, an attorney, and has two sons Connor and Nathan.
