The Financial Research Institute (FRI) is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. Ewell Lawson as our new Program Director. As Program Director, Mr. Lawson will direct the operations and implementation of FRI’s educational programs, including the Annual Public Utility Symposium, the Advanced Seminar on Transformational Pricing and Rate Design, and the Regulated Utilities Leadership Institute (RULI). He will also contribute to FRI’s policy analysis and industry research efforts.

Mr. Lawson brings a wealth of experience in utilities, government and association management, and policy leadership. Recognized nationally for his contributions to public power and telecommunications policy, he has received the Alan Richardson Statesmanship Award from the American Public Power Association (APPA) and recognition by the National Coalition for Local Internet Choice for his broadband policy advocacy. As a former member of the APPA Board of Directors, he played a significant role in advancing interests of the utility sector.

With this strategic addition to our team, FRI continues to strengthen its position as a leader in utility policy education and research. We are dedicated to a neutral, comprehensive examination of sound regulatory policy, and we look forward to advancing our mission to deliver regulatory innovation, understanding, and education across the public utility sector.
